Beat the heat by trying our designated cool areas!

Whilst the hot weather has been lovely, it can get a bit overstimulating sometimes, especially when you're trying to study, and your shirt starts sticking to you.

But don't worry, because many spots around campus are now designated cool areas - places where you can beat the heat on campus during high temperatures!

Main communal areas with temperature controls:

The Virgil Building basement study area is part of the off-campus student hub located on Manvers Street. It provides informal learning spaces and serves as a cooler communal zone during high temperatures.

4W Café is a very popular and vibrant spot on campus. It has a cool, light and airy space that works well for grabbing a coffee between classes or doing solo study sessions in the heat.

10 East Pavilion is literally (and figuratively) one of the best designated cool, temperature-controlled indoor spaces on campus! The perfect spot to cool down on those overstimulating hot days.

Lime Tree is a popular campus spot known for its relaxed food court, bar and café. It has a calm atmosphere and low lighting, creating a peaceful study space. Not only that, but it's also a designated cool area on campus!

The Chancellors Building Atrium features active temperature controls and acts as a relief spot in warm weather. It's another designated cool area to help beat the heat during high temperatures.

Being in the basement (level 1), this Library Study Space naturally stays milder and is less exposed to direct sunlight, so it's a cooler area. It also tends to be quieter, making it a good spot when the upper levels get stuffy and crowded.

The Sports Training Village Gym and entrance are both cool areas, making training and staying active in the heat easier. The gym floor and main entrance feature active temperature controls to help mitigate the heat, as well as maintain lower temperatures suited for physical exercise.

Off-campus, BaNES is also offering welcoming indoor spaces to keep cool and to stay connected during the hot weather.
