Prayer, worship, reflection and meditation on campus

There are a range of spaces on campus dedicated to prayer, reflection, and faith-based community.

 

Chaplaincy

"Support and care, space and prayer in the heart of the Campus. All People, All Year, All Churches."

Location: between 1E and 3E, next to the Library.

Esther Parkin Global Lounge

The Jewish and Sikh societies use the Esther Parkin Global Lounge throughout the year.

Location: ground floor of the Esther Parkins Residence complex. Found between Marlborough Court and Eastwood.

Access: library card

 

Mandir

"The Mandir is a hub for Hindu practices and cultural activities on campus. It provides a calm environment for individual reflection and community gatherings, fostering a sense of belonging and spirituality for all who visit."

Location: Norwood House, floor 4. Accessed via the south stairs of Norwood House.

Access: library card - fill out the access form, or email the Chaplaincy or the Hindu Society.

  • The Mandir follows a NEMA Policy (No eggs, meat, and alcohol).
  • No shoes are allowed inside the Mandir to maintain its sanctity.
  • No diya should be lit, only electric candles.

Muslim prayer room

BUIS organise weekly Friday sermons and Jumu'ah prayers - links to find out more can be found on the BUIS webpage.

Location: Norwood House, floor 4. Brothers' entrance from Parade using the south stairs of Norwood House. Sisters' entrance from the Students' Union building using the north stairs of Norwood House.

Access: library card - request access using the QR code at the entrance or email the Bath University Islamic Society (BUIS) to request a link.


Woodland Memorial Garden

This peaceful wild garden is a dedicated area for reflection, with seating, memorial stones, and an area to scatter ashes. 

Location: north of campus, between Brendon Court and Eastwood.
