Recipe collaborations in lime tree

Introducing our campaign to bring authentic food to campus. Across the year, we will be running several collaborative food counters with students to bring more diverse, inclusive, and tasty food options to lime tree's global eats counter.

We are calling the campaign 'There's no plates like home' because we know that food plays a significant role in belonging. Whether it's bringing a piece of home with you, or feeling at home in Bath, food can provide comfort and connection.

Sharing food that means something to us can help us learn about each other, celebrate diversity, and recognise our shared and differing customs and traditions. Plus, food is delicious!

So, how does no plates like home differ from food we usually serve on campus?

  • We are collaborating with student groups to choose what dishes feature on the menu. This is based on what our student chefs cook at home, with a particular focus on dishes with meaning and cultural significance.
  • Students are teaching our chefs how to cook dishes their way. For each collaboration, our student chefs are cooking their dishes with Head Chef Gareth, showing him how they want the food to look and taste.
  • We are working together to scale up the recipes to serve in lime tree without sacrificing authenticity. This includes working with students to make sure we are getting the right ingredients from suppliers, and cooking with the right methods.

You can expect to see feature counters across the year, with popular dishes getting added to the menu.

We are collaborating with BUIS (Bath University Islamic Society) to put together an exciting menu of delicious food to celebrate Ramadan.

The menu is available at the global plate counter for lunch (12 noon to 2pm) and dinner (5.30pm to 7.30pm). Students were keen to give everyone a chance to try their dishes, including those that aren't fasting.

Previously, we have worked with the African and Caribbean Society, the Latin American Society (LATAM), the Association of British and Chinese University Students (ABACUS) and the Chinese  Students and Scholars Association in Bath (CSSA)
