American diner in Fountain Canteen

My review

If you're looking to try out a new food spot on campus then the new American Diner counter, located in the middle of the Fountain Canteen, is a perfect place to grab a quick bite to eat. The counter is open from 11:30am to 2:30pm on weekdays so definitely makes for the perfect lunch with your friends.

What they serve:

The Diner offers a wide range of foods that come to mind when you think of a traditional American Diner from the movies! They serve hotdogs (including a vegan option), mac and cheese, waffles, milkshakes and more.

I’ve inserted a picture of the menu below so you can have a look at all the foods on offer and their prices!

My recommendations:

I recently went to the Diner to try out some of the food and bought myself the pulled pork dog with a side of fries and the salted caramel and biscoff waffle - all of which came to £10! One of the main things that I noticed was how big the portion sizes were, I had to share with my friends to be able to finish it all.

My personal favourite was the pulled pork dog, a loaded hot dog topped with lots of pulled pork and crispy onions. I've never thought about adding pulled pork to a hot dog but it was a massive hit with both me and my friends. It was also definitely big enough to fill us up as we had to share! I paid £4.95 for this as it was one of the most expensive items on the menu, which considering the size isn't too unreasonable, and so it was worth it for a treat. If you're looking for a cheaper hotdog, the 'classic dog' is £2.75 and the 'vegan dog' is £2.

Below is a picture of the pulled pork dog that I got with a side of fries.

Next, I tried the salted caramel biscoff waffle, a thick waffle loaded with biscoff, salted caramel ice cream and cream. As a massive biscoff fan, this was the item on the menu that caught my attention the most and it didn't disappoint. It cost £3.95 and was the perfect sweet treat to get me through a very long Friday of uni lectures. All of the dessert options on the menu can be made into waffles or pancakes so I'll definitely be back soon to try it in pancake form!
