Hello! My name is Martha, and I'm a second-year student at the University of Bath. I've been vegan for over four years now, and one of the things I love most about living in Bath is how easy it is to eat well as a vegan. Whether you're looking for a fully vegan restaurant, a cute café or somewhere to go with non-vegan friends, there are so many great options to explore.
The Green Rocket
This is hands down my favourite place to eat in Bath, and I'm constantly recommending it to friends. The Green Rocket is a vegan restaurant located on North Parade, a short walk from the train station. The food is incredible, and the menu changes regularly, keeping it exciting every time you visit.
Their website isn't always up to date, so I'd recommend checking their Instagram to see what's currently on offer. Some dishes are staples, though, like their Bang Bang cauliflower. This is the best cauliflower I've ever had, and I've tried lots! The gochujang sauce has the perfect balance of sweet and spice. Last week, I tried their new Potato Pave, which was so yummy, and it came with a creamy mushroom sauce and fried wild mushrooms. I have also tried their wild garlic pasta, red pepper gnocchi, caramelised roasted carrots, nasu dengaku (miso aubergine with tofu), spinach and pea risotto, sweetcorn ribs, Thai green curry, tempura oyster mushroom tacos, bubble and squeak, mushroom and spinach on sourdough... the list goes on!
Everything I have tried, I have loved, and so I am not able to recommend just one. My advice would be to bring as many friends as possible and share everything! I aim to try everything on the menu before I graduate, which I am confident I will be able to do given how many times I come here!!

Cascara
Cascara is the sister café to The Green Rocket, and it's my go-to spot for coffee and sweet treats, located on Upper Borough Walls Road, not too far from Waitrose.
Cascara serve my favourite oat iced latte in Bath, and the staff are always so lovely. While they do offer savoury food, I usually come here for coffee and cake after lunch. Their pastries and cakes are incredible. I recently had an almond croissant, and it was delicious, with a generous filling; you really do get your money's worth.
Sarthi
Sarthi opened in Bath in April 2025, and it's my favourite Indian restaurant in Bath. The menu is vegetarian, but most options are vegan. The building is a Grade II-listed former church, so it is a beautiful venue. I love their chilli cauliflower, chilli 'chicken' and their masala dosa. Their vegan butter chicken curry was so lovely and creamy. I'm looking forward to trying their garlic mogo chips next time I visit.
Sarthi often offers discount codes and special offers. I often see a 20% student discount advertised, so have a look online before you visit! There's also no harm in asking when you are paying the bill if they are currently accepting a student discount.

Rooted Café and Supper Rooms
Rooted Café is located in Newbridge; it is a bit further out from Bath City Centre, but it's absolutely worth the trip.
Rooted is a vegetarian café where almost everything can be made vegan. Their menu has an Indian twist, which makes it stand out from typical brunch spots. I love their Mumbai Butty, their Full Indian Breakfast (they are well known for this dish, and it is delicious!), and their Indian Poutine. The menu offers an impressive range of drinks, including a smoothie section where you can add different superfood powders.
Rooted Café also do monthly supper clubs from a different culture each month. Their monthly supper clubs are £45 per person and include 4 courses. Previous supper clubs have included Lisbon, New York, Burma, Ethiopia, Peru, Mozambique, Mexico, the Philippines, Nepal and more! I have not been able to attend one of these monthly supper clubs, but they have such good reviews, and I am looking forward to going when I get the chance.
You can also buy jars of their best-selling homemade sauces, including banana ketchup! I have been too scared to try this as it's out of my comfort zone, but it sounds cool. I'm thinking of treating myself to their mango masala mayo next time I visit. This mayo was served with their Indian poutine, and I've genuinely never tasted anything like it before. It was so delicious!
Pictured here is the Mumbai Butty with a side dish of dahl. I also chose the Rooted Juice smoothie which was carrot and ginger!
Vherball Pizza
Vherball Pizza does pop-ups around Bath and Somerset, and it's honestly some of the best vegan pizza I've ever had. The cashew-based cheese is incredibly creamy, and the Neapolitan-style base is perfectly soft and fluffy.
Vherball Pizza often collaborate with The Green Rocket or appear at local events like Bath Rugby, so keep an eye on their social media to catch them. I got the margherita pizza last time, but I'm looking forward to trying their Truffle pizza and their marmite pizza!

Good Day Café
I've only stopped by Good Day Café for sweet treats so far, but I can't get enough of their Biscoff Cookie Dough Slice. They change the flavours of their cookies and brownies each day, but their Biscoff Cookie Dough Slice is often there. Whenever I'm in town, I pop in to see if they are serving the Biscoff cookie dough slice. It is a 10/10!

The Coconut Tree
One of my favourite places to go with friends. It's perfect if you're dining with non-vegans, as there's a great mix of options. They also offer a 20% student discount!
The Sri Lankan-inspired small plates are full of flavour, and there are plenty of vegan choices to enjoy. I love the hoppers, Kaju Maluwa, Kotthu and Sri-tato. Because it's lots of small plates, it perfect to go with friends and share everything. They have fun cocktails and mocktails there too, there's one that is served on fire, the Srikri-tiki!
In this photo are: 2x vegan hoppers, kaju maluwa (creamy cashew nut curry), stir-fried chickpeas, sri-tato (Sri-Lankan roast potatoes) & vegan kotthu.
Solina
Solina is a student favourite, and it's so nice that as a vegan, they always have yummy options that still have lots of flavour. If you decide to visit Solina, just let them know you'd like the vegan option, as they typically serve their dishes with homemade egg pasta. Solina often changes the menu, but they have always served garlic and chilli linguini so far (and I hope it stays the same!) at £8, which is the cheapest item on the menu! Their pesto pasta can often be made vegan if you ask for no cheese; it's really tasty.
Left dish: Orecchiette with pistachio and basil pesto, datterini tomatoes (served without stracciatella). Right dish: Garlic, chilli & olive oil spaghetti with datterini tomatoes and crispy pangrattato.
Bosco
In my first year at university, they didn't offer vegan cheese, so whenever I went with friends, I'd order the marinara pizza and pile on as many vegetables as possible to make up for it. But they've recently added vegan mozzarella to the menu... and at no extra cost! I've been so excited about this because it genuinely makes such a difference to have a cheese option. It's a really creamy mozzarella alternative too. Their dark chocolate sorbet is also vegan, which is perfect because I always get that for dessert.
This is the vegan margherita, and I added caramelised red onions to my pizza.
Other spots to try
There are still so many places in Bath that I'm excited to try. Oak, La Terra, Chai Walla, Eat a Pitta, and Plant.Eat.Licious are all great options for veggie and vegan food.
Oak offers a set lunch menu during the week, which looks like a really nice option for something a bit different, and Plant.Eat.Licious often has Too Good To Go bags for under £4, perfect if you're trying to eat well on a student budget!
Chain restaurants
If you're looking for something familiar or quick, there are plenty of chains in Bath with solid vegan options, including Bill's, Pizza Express, Banana Tree, Rosa's Thai and Wagamama. These are always reliable choices, especially when you're out with a group and want something that works for everyone.
