Celebrate World Book Day with us at our cosy Book Swap Social, the perfect chance to refresh your bookshelf, discover new reads, and share your favourites with other students! Bring along a book you’ve loved (or one you're ready to pass on) and swap it for something new that catches your eye.
Whether you’re into fantasy, romance, thrillers, or academic escapism, there’s something for everyone. Chat about your top reads, get recommendations from fellow book lovers, and maybe find your next obsession.
No pressure, no cost, just good vibes, good stories, and a great way to celebrate the joy of reading.
ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in the John Wood Social Space. You’ll be able to recognise them wearing a light blue t-shirt or hoodie with the ResLife logo on.
The space is fully accessible with automatic doors and accessible toilets on the ground floor. If you prefer to arrive earlier, there is plenty of seating available in the social space.
Our ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in the John Wood Social Space. You’re welcome to arrive at any time during the event. There’s no formal start or end, so feel free to drop in when it suits you and stay for as long (or as little) as you like.
There will be some unstructured time while waiting for people to arrive which gives you the chance to introduce yourself, meet new people if you want to, and settle in. If you need some help with this, for example, if you arrive on your own, our ResLife Ambassadors will happily help introduce you or find a seat on a table.
There is no structured break during this event, but you are welcome to leave and re-join at any point. The session runs for around 2 hours, but you can leave at any point, and you’ll be able to take your new book home with you. When you attend this event, please bring a book to swap. If you are interested in a book you can ask the student that brought it questions.
Refreshments such as snacks and cold drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring your own food and drink.
