From skyline sights to scone delights.

Steps, snaps, scones.

Discover Bath from a whole new perspective with our Skyline and Scones event, especially for postgrad students. This is your chance to step away from busy student life and enjoy a scenic walk along the iconic Bath Skyline. With stunning views, peaceful green spaces, and plenty of photo-worthy moments, it’s the perfect way to get to know the city beyond the lecture hall.

After the walk, you’ll return to campus for a well-earned treat—classic British scones. Whether you prefer them with jam first or cream first, this is your chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy some simple comforts after exploring. More than just a walk, this event is about connecting with fellow postgrads, sharing first impressions, and starting to build a community in your new home.

It’s informal, friendly, and the ideal mix of fresh air, good company, and a sweet reward at the end. Lace up your walking shoes, bring your camera, and join ResLife Ambassadors for a relaxed day of discovering Bath and making new connections along the way.

Please note this event is open to Postgraduate student only

Please meet your ResLife ambassadors in the main square also outside Bath Abbey, you can see the location on a map here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/T3ncBx3DMwnJuMbh9

ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you and organise the group before starting the walk – you’ll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

At this event, you’re invited on a relaxed walk to see the iconic views on the Bath Skyline walk. This is a shorter version of the walk, taking roughly 1 hour to complete and walking a rough distance of 2 miles.

ResLife Ambassadors will lead the group and ensure they are walking at a pace to suit everyone. The route runs from the city centre, up to Sydney Buildings and then into Bathwick Fields for views across the city.

The walk will be a chance to meet other PG students and talk whilst you complete the route, as well as an excellent photo opportunity.

All students are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes and check the weather before hand to inform if you need to bring any specific clothing such as a waterproof coat.

At the end of the walk, Ambassadors will invite you to take the bus up to campus and enjoy some free cream teas with scones in the Polden Living Lounge.

The lounge is accessible with lift access and accessible toilets located on the same floor. Doors are not automatic, but Ambassadors will happily help you to enter the lounge. There are a range of seating including booth seats, table seats and sofas, as well as a more open space on one side. There is lots of natural light due to large windows, but extra lighting can be turned on over tables and booths.
