The Study Crawl

Swap out your pints for pens

We know you'll have heard of a pub crawl, but have you ever heard of a study crawl? It's essentially the same concept without the drinking, and you're studying. It makes it a bit more active and gives your brain a break, moving from one place to another instead of being tied to a desk. We've come up with a route to help make your study sessions a bit more interesting:

Starting point - 4W Café ☕️

a group of people sitting at a table in a room

Open from 8 am, it's the perfect place to start the crawl. You can enjoy a coffee and some breakfast whilst you plan out your revision. Don't go straight into studying big topics and content; it's best to ease yourself into it early on.

2nd location – The Library 📚

Just a short walk over from the café and you're ready to get down to business. The Library is a good place to get stuck into researching and writing, and it's great motivation when you're also surrounded by others studying. (We recommend heading up to Level 5 for the views.)

3rd location – Bathwick Hill🚶‍♀️

It's time to have a break and reset your brain with a stroll along the canal. Halfway down Bathwick Hill, you can join a gravelled path to the Skyline trail for a more scenic view of the city before re-joining the road near the canal.

4th location - The Virgil Building 📖

You've already done so well to get this far; that's a lot of studying! The Virgil Building feels like a great place to end up on the study crawl. With its one-person rooms, it's a great place to focus on your studies without any distractions. It's also a great place to meet up with friends who might've had morning lectures and do a group session together in their bookable group rooms

Final location - Back to campus 🍎

Now it's time to head back to campus via Bathwick Hill again, taking in the views once more. When you've reached campus, head to the lake. It's the central focus point of the grounds near the Parade and Library. It's the perfect place to wind down from studies and do a bit of active recall. Test yourself on what you've focused on today, nothing too intense. At this point, you've had a very good study day, but your brain might be a bit tired. So whether you want to read over notes, look through some flash cards, or just talk quietly to yourself and brain dump some information, the lake is the perfect spot for this.

You should be proud of yourself for completing the Study Crawl – not only have you taken time to revise your content, but you've been active, explored and pushed yourself to get through the day. Exam season is stressful, so make sure you treat yourself and take time to relax ❤️
