Easy chocolate chip cookie recipe

Posted 1 year ago

Everyone loves the smell of cookie dough in the kitchen

This super easy recipe is a great way to start baking - and requires no special equipment. This recipe makes 12 cookies – the question is, will you share?!

All the ingredients can be purchased on campus in the Fresh shop. All three main ingredients: flour, sugar and butter are price locked for this term (just look out for the padlock symbol in-store for price locked items, meaning they won't increase a penny this term).

Also with this recipe, if you make the cookies again you'll only need to buy butter and chocolate chips as you will have flour and sugar leftover.

Ingredients

  • 225g butter (softened)
  • 110g caster sugar
  • 275  plain flour
  • 75g chocolate chips

Serves 12

Method

1. Heat the oven to 190c or gas mark 5.

2. Cream the butter in a bowl until soft. Add sugar and keep beating until soft and fluffy. Sift in the flour and then add chocolate chips.

3. Bring the mixture together with your hands until it forms a dough. Roll the dough into walnut size dough balls and place on a baking sheet.

4. Flatten the dough balls with your hands and bake in the oven for 10 – 15 minutes until golden brown and slightly firm.

5. Leave to cool on a cooling rack for 15 minutes before serving.

This dough is great to freeze, so you have a batch ready to go in the freezer whenever you fancy a homemade sweet treat.

You can use any container or food bag, just make sure it can be completely covered to avoid any freezer burn.
