Everything you need to know about applications
Applications open (for undergraduates): 6 May 2026.
Applications close: 1 July 2026.
Insurance and Clearing students can apply for accommodation from 18 August 2026.
For applications received after 1 July, accommodation cannot be guaranteed at this stage, but we will make every effort to place you in our University-managed accommodation. Non-guaranteed accommodation applications can still be sent up until 24 July 2026.
If we cannot offer you a permanent room immediately, you may receive an offer of temporary shared accommodation. This allows you to start your course and settle into University life whilst we continue to work with you to secure a more permanent room in our accommodation as soon as possible.
If you are joining the University outside the standard semester dates, please contact the ResLife Team at reslife@bath.ac.uk to inquire about the availability of university accommodation.
Contract lengths
Undergraduate contract lengths will typically range from 38 to 40 weeks from September to June, depending on your building and room type.
- 38 weeks: Most common for undergraduates staying in halls such as Westwood, The Quads, and Woodland Court.
- 40 weeks: Offered in specific undergraduate halls such as Cotswold, Conygre and Wolfson.
- 51 weeks: Standard length for postgraduates living in Canal Wharf, The Brook and Everleigh Waterside.
A step-by-step guide on how to submit your application:
- Once you have received a confirmed firm offer (conditional or unconditional) from the university, you can register on the accommodation application portal. Please note that it can take up to 48 hours to access the system after confirming your firm choice with UCAS.
- Before registering, make sure you have your university username and password (if forgotten, access the lost password form) and have a thorough understanding of the application terms and conditions.
- Once you have registered, the system may take up to an hour to update. Once updated, you can login and submit your application.
- When you make your application, you will need to select seven accommodation building preferences, ranking them in order of highest to lowest preference. Here, you will also be able to select any additional preferences such as quiet, alcohol-free and LGBTQ+ accommodation. If you are applying as a PGT student you can select vegetarian and quiet accommodation.
- Submit and wait for your allocation.
When can I expect an allocation?
- First year undergraduate room offers will be sent after the guarantee deadline of 24 July, and only once your course offer becomes unconditional firm.
- All first-year undergraduate students whose course status changes to unconditional firm prior to the 5 August will receive their offer up to and including the 6 August.
- After the 6 August, as the majority of first-year undergraduate allocations are completed after waiting for A-level results, room offers will be sent out to all remaining first-year undergraduates eligible for guaranteed accommodation on Wednesday 27 August.
- Undergraduate waiting list allocations will take place from the 28 August, daily.
- Postgraduate allocations are completed when an applicant’s course offer changes to unconditional firm.
Please note that all accommodation offers are sent out weekly on a Wednesday following the course offer changing to unconditional firm.
Now you have a better understanding of the university accommodation application process, we hope your transition to university is a smooth and fun one. We can't wait to welcome you to the Bath community!
