There's no need to panic

Find out about privately rented accommodation for the next academic year with the help of ResLife Support.

As University residents, you're likely to be well-acquainted with the convenience and security that comes with living in university accommodation. However, there comes a time when you need to spread your wings and find accommodation for your next academic year. The good news is, there's no need jump into things just yet, and certainly no need to panic.

Over the coming weeks and months ResLife Support will provide you with essential information on how to approach this transition and find a place to call home next year.

Starting from December 1st, the University begin advertising properties on Studentpad. This is the perfect time to start your search. While some landlords and agencies might advertise earlier, keep in mind that properties advertised on Studentpad tend to be more affordable, and all licensing and certificates are checked.

The university is fully committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. We understand that finding accommodation can be a daunting task, and that's why we offer extensive support to assist you in your search.

  1. Talks and Information Sessions: Look out for informative talks and drop-in events that will provide you with valuable insights on finding accommodation. These sessions often cover topics like budgeting, understanding your agreements, and tips for house-hunting.
  2. Housemate Finder Sessions: Finding the right housemates can be just as important as finding the right accommodation. Our housemate finder sessions are there to help you connect with like-minded individuals and form house groups.
  3. ResLife Support Team: Our ResLife Support Team is here for you. If you have questions, concerns, or need guidance throughout your housing search, don't hesitate to reach out to them. They have the experience and knowledge to assist you at every step of the way.

Availability tends to decline as we move closer to April. You will see rooms and properties pop up in the Spring/Summer also, but latecomers may need to make more compromises on their choices, so it's in your best interest to focus your search between December and the end of March.

Transitioning from university accommodation to securing your own housing can be an exciting yet challenging experience, but the key is to plan ahead, stay informed, and utilize available resources. Remember, there's no need to panic. Making use of university platforms like Studentpad and benefiting from the support and guidance provided by ResLife Support will ensure a smooth and successful transition into your next home in Bath.
