If you’re looking for alternatives beyond your room, these spots are worth knowing about.
1. The Virgil Building

Looking to study in the city centre? This student hub is a great choice. With a range of different types of spaces, you can choose an area that works best for you, including:
- An informal study space in 1.06
- One-person rooms (booking recommended)
- Group study and meeting rooms (booking recommended)
There are a range of networked PCs available if you need to access any online learning resources. You must scan your library card to enter the building.
If you need further support while here, there are a range of services available to you as well.
2. Green Park House
📍Green Park House, 6 Green Park Road, BA1 1BQ
⏰ Open 24/7, for residents
As a University-managed accommodation, this spot is great if you want somewhere quiet without worrying about opening times. Be aware that this is only available to students living in University of Bath accommodation.
There's no booking necessary, so just bring yourself, your study materials and your can-do attitude to smash through that revision.
3. John Wood Court
📍John Wood Court, Avon Street, BA1 1AL
⏰ Open 24/7, for residents
If you live in John Wood Court or Carpenter House, you've got a dedicated study space on your doorstep, open all day and night so every resident can study when it suits them. This spot is also only available to students living in University-managed halls.
No booking needed.
4. Norwood House Study Space
📍Norwood Common Rooms, University of Bath, Claverton Down, BA2 7AY
⏰ 8:15am – 10pm
Located between the Library and Student Union, Norwood House is a handy on-campus option when everywhere else feels too busy.
Designed for students studying independently, the space includes:
- Flexible open-plan areas
- Independent study spaces
- Telephone interview rooms
- Printers and photocopiers
Booking a room isn't necessary, but you can choose to book a room here.
