Where paper folds meet magical worlds at John Wood
Welcome to a magical evening where crafting meet cinema. Step into the wonderful world of Studio Ghibli with us. As the movie unfolds we will get busy folding and learning the art of origami. Whether you're a folding pro or a first timer, we will guide you through some simple folds to bring your paper creations to life! So grab your paper, find a comfy spot, and let’s get ready for a night of magical storytelling and crafty fun.
Tonight we will be diving into the enchanting world of Spirited Away!
The story follows a young girl named Chihiro who becomes trapped in a mysterious world after her parents are transformed into pigs. To save her family, Chihiro must navigate a realm filled with spirits and peculiar creatures while working in a bathhouse run by the witch Yubaba.
The RLA's will be at John Wood to welcome you. You will be able to spot them as they will be wearing light blue hoodies.
This event is all about feeling cosy. Come in your comfiest clothes or even your pyjamas! The RLA's will provide snacks and drinks while you watch. Feel free to make this event sustainable by bringing your own cup to enjoy refreshments.
At this event we will be watching Spirited Away and doing origami. If you just want to watch the film there is no pressure to join in the crafting. If you've never done origami before, don't worry! We will have instructions printed out for you.
The event will be held in the John Wood Unwind room as a part of the new John Wood Social Space events programme.
