Stitching Stories Together
Celebrating Disability History Month with craft
Join us for a hands-on creative event exploring the powerful intersection of craft and activism to celebrate Disability History Month. In History of Craftivism, students are invited to design and embroider their own fabric square, expressing personal values, social messages, or creative reflections.
Each square will be stitched together at the end of the event to form a collaborative tapestry, a visual symbol of collective voice, creativity, and community. Whether you're new to embroidery or a seasoned stitcher, this is a chance to make art that speaks, connects, and inspires.
ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in Limetree. You’ll be able to recognise them wearing a light blue t-shirt or hoodie with the ResLife logo on.
The Limetree has automatic doors and fully accessible toilets.
Our ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in Limetree.
You’re welcome to arrive at any time during the event. There’s no formal start or end, so feel free to drop in when it suits you and stay for as long (or as little) as you like. There will be some unstructured time while waiting for people to arrive which gives you the chance to introduce yourself, meet new people if you want to, and settle in.
If you need some help with this, for example, if you arrive on your own, our ResLife Ambassadors will happily help introduce you or find a seat on a table. There is no structured break during this event, but you are welcome to leave and re-join at any point. The session runs for around 2 hours, but you can leave at any point, and you’ll be able to take your creation home with you. All materials will be provided for you.
All you need to bring is yourself. Refreshments such as snacks and cold drinks will be provided. Feel free to bring your own food and drink.
If you would like to attend more events like this one, make sure to check the ResLife Events page regularly for our latest updates.

Please note:
We have photographers and film-makers at some of our events to capture footage to share online and for use in future promotional materials. If you don't want to be featured, please inform a member of the ResLife Team.
