A hands-on break from exam stress
Switch off and make something.
After a long stretch of revision, it’s easy to feel stuck in the same routine; notes, screens, and to-do lists on repeat. Sometimes, the best way to reset is to step away completely and do something hands-on instead.
Our Craft-athon is a chance to unwind, get creative, and try something new in a relaxed, low-pressure environment. With a wide range of crafts on offer, you can move between activities, experiment with different materials, and see what you enjoy, all at your own pace.
Whether you’re painting, stitching, designing, or trying something you’ve never done before, the focus is on the process rather than the end result. You’ll have the opportunity to make something you can take home with you, but there’s no expectation to create anything perfect; just something that feels satisfying to make.
It’s a simple way to take a break from exam stress, clear your head, and spend some time doing something creative. Come along with friends or drop in on your own — everyone’s welcome, and you might just discover a new favourite way to switch off.
ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in limetree. You’ll be able to recognise them wearing a light blue t-shirt or hoodie with the ResLife logo on.
The limetree is fully accessible with seating and disabled toilets available. There are water refill stations and quiet areas available in case you need a breather.
This is a relaxed, drop-in session where you can explore different crafts at your own pace. You’re free to arrive and leave whenever suits you, and there’s no pressure to try everything or finish a piece.
A wide range of materials and activities will be available, with different textures and levels of complexity. Some crafts may be a little messy, but everything you need will be provided. The space will have a moderate level of background noise, similar to a busy workshop, with quieter areas available if you’d prefer a calmer environment.
Guidance will be on hand if you want help getting started, but you’re equally welcome to move between activities independently. The focus is on giving you a creative, low-pressure break from exam stress.
