Countdown to Eid

Join us for a hands‑on Eid preparation event where you can try out beautiful henna designs and make your own star and moon decorations, two symbols that play a big part in Eid celebrations and the Islamic lunar calendar.

Eid is celebrated twice a year by Muslims around the world: Eid al‑Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, and Eid al‑Adha, a celebration of community, generosity, and shared traditions. Both are moments of joy, gathering, and gratitude and we’re bringing a bit of that festive spirit straight to campus.

During the event, you’ll get the chance to decorate, design, experiment, and learn a little more about the meaning behind these traditions. Whether you celebrate Eid or just want to join the creative fun, everyone is welcome.

Come along, get creative, and kick off the Eid celebrations in style!

ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in Limetree. You’ll be able to recognise them wearing a light blue t-shirt or hoodie with the ResLife logo on.

The Limetree is fully accessible with seating and disabled toilets available. There are water refill stations and quiet areas in case you need a breather.

You’re welcome to arrive at any time during the event. There’s no formal start or end, so feel free to drop in when it suits you and stay for as long (or as little) as you like.

There will be some unstructured time while waiting for people to arrive which gives you the chance to introduce yourself, meet new people if you want to, and settle in. If you need some help with this, for example, if you arrive on your own, our ResLife Ambassadors will happily help introduce you or find a seat on a table.

There is no structured break during this event, but you are welcome to leave and re-join at any point. The session runs for around 2 hours, but you can leave at any point, and you’ll be able to take your creation home with you. All materials will be provided for you. All you need to bring is yourself.

At this event you will be making decoartions such as bunting for Eid. You can also try out henna designs. We have stencils you can use or you are welcome to free style.
