5th February at John Wood - Howl's Moving Castle

A young woman named Sophie is cursed by the Witch of the Waste, turns into an old woman, and is unable to tell anyone of her plight. Unable to continue her job at her mother's hat shop, she goes to the nomadic castle of the notorious wizard Howl and ingratiates herself into his household. Sophie befriends Calcifer, the fire demon who powers the castle and who is bound to Howl by a contract, the terms of which Calcifer cannot reveal. They promise to help each other with their problems. Like Calcifer, Howl can also see through the Witch's spell, and he and Sophie fall in love. Sophie helps Howl confront his former teacher, and the Witch of the Waste.

12th February on Campus - Valentine's Day

More than a dozen Angelenos navigate Valentine's Day from early morning until midnight. Three couples awake together, but each relationship will sputter; are any worth saving? A grade-school boy wants flowers for his first true love; two high school seniors plan their first time; a TV sports reporter gets the assignment to find romance in LA; a star quarterback contemplates his future; two strangers meet on a plane; grandparents, together for years, face a crisis; and, an "I Hate Valentine's Day" dinner beckons the lonely and the lied to. Can Cupid finish his work by midnight?

19th February at John Wood - The Breakfast Club

The movie takes place on Saturday March 24, 1984, at Shermer High School in fictional Shermer, Illinois. Assigned to detention for various reasons that are revealed during the course of the film, each of the students represents a common teenage archetype: a jock, Andrew Clark; a brain, Brian Johnson; a beauty, Claire Standish; a rebel, John Bender; and a recluse, Allison Reynolds. During their nine-hour stint in detention, overseen by Assistant Principal Vernon, they are instructed to sit quietly and write a 1,000-word essay on the subject of “who you think you are.”

The students are initially hostile and antagonistic toward each other but begin to develop a sense of solidarity, particularly after Bender takes a stand against Vernon’s bullying. The group eventually open up to each other by sharing personal stories, dancing, surreptitiously roaming the school, and revealing vulnerabilities. In the process, they discover that they have more in common than they initially thought. By the end of detention, the five have formed unlikely friendships, and they leave with changed attitudes and perspectives.

26th February on Campus - Ferris Bueller's Day Off

A brash, cocky high school senior, tired of skipping school to spend a boring day at home, is determined to enjoy an epic day roaring around his favourite Chicago sites, enlisting his best friend and girlfriend to join him on the adventure.

Get ready to pick a movie night, grab your friends and enjoy the show!
