As Freshers Week winds down, we’re wrapping it up in the best way possible, with the start of our cinema club happening in the John Wood Unwind room.
We’re kicking things off with the classic “The Social Network”, setting the tone for a year of great movies and good company. Each Cinema Club night will feature a different theme to keep things fresh and fun, so there’s always something new to look forward to.
To make things extra cosy, we’ll have pillows and blankets available, plus your ResLife Ambassadors will be on hand offering warm and cold drinks, along with a tasty selection of snacks and sweets to enjoy during the film.
Whether you’re a movie buff or just looking for a comfy way to end the week, come along, settle in, and enjoy the show!
The story of the creators of Facebook and the subsequent legal battles that stretched out over several years. Told mostly in flashbacks while Mark Zuckerberg gives depositions in two lawsuits, the idea of a shareable social information site came to him one night after he hacked into his school's database and published the photos of all the women at the school. One of his roommates, Eduardo Saverin, provides the upfront financing and Zuckerberg deftly outmanoeuvres two other students who had a similar idea. The relationship with Saverin deteriorates and he soon finds himself on the outside looking in. All in all, an unflattering picture of all those involved.
The event will be held in the John Wood Social Space which is on the ground floor of John Wood Building. The room has seating available. There are toilets on the same floor.

This event is all about feeling cosy. Come in your comfiest clothes or even your pyjamas!
Feel free to bring any food and drink you would like. We will provide sweets and fizzy drinks. Allergens will be clearly labelled. If you have any dietary requirements or allergies, feel free to let a member of the team know on arrival, we’re happy to help.
There is no structured break during this event, but you are welcome to leave and re-join at any point. The session runs for around 2 hours, but you can leave at any point.
