Tie, twist and unwind
Looking for a cosy way to start the week, meet new people and get those creative juices flowing? This week at Craft + Cuppa, we're diving into the art of macramé.
Macramé is all about turning simple cord into something beautiful, using just a handful of knots. Once you've got the hang of the basics, it's surprisingly relaxing. You'll find a rhythm, switch off from the day and watch your design take shape in your hands.
Here's the best part: you don't need to be the next Pinterest sensation to join in. Whether you're completely new or already know your square knots from your half hitches, we'll go through it together step by step, with all the tools and materials you need in a handy follow-along kit.
Craft + Cuppa isn't just about the end product, though. It's about the process. Grab a hot drink, settle in and leave with a new skill, a handmade creation and maybe a few new friends.
Grab a cuppa and get knotting.
Polden Common Room is on the ground floor of Polden B Block, next to the Polden Cafe and just along from the West Accommodation Centre.
The room is fully accessible with step-free access and a range of booth and table seating. There are accessible toilets on the same floor.
ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you. You'll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

Craft + Cuppa is a relaxed, drop-in session. There's no formal start or end, so arrive when it suits you and stay for as long (or as little) as you like.
When you arrive, our RLAs will give you a follow-along kit and teach you the knots step by step. You can follow along with the group or work at your own pace, and you'll take your macramé creation home with you.
There's no official icebreaker. You can chat with other students while you make, or keep to yourself if that's more your vibe.
Hot drinks will be available throughout. Help us make this a sustainable event by bringing your own mug.
If you need a quieter spot or a break, just let one of our RLAs know and they'll be happy to help.
