Explore Bath beyond the city
Looking to get outside, meet new friends, and explore one of Bath’s most beautiful spots? Join us for a relaxed walk to Prior Park, a stunning landscape garden just a short stroll from the city centre!
Starting from Bath Abbey, you'll walk down to Prior Park while enjoying the summer weather and each other's company. This is the perfect way to take a break, enjoy some fresh air, and snap some photos of the famous Palladian Bridge. If you're a fan of Bridgerton, you'll love visiting Prior Park’s sweeping views and elegant architecture and feeling like you've stepped into the Regency era.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to discover this hidden gem on your doorstep.
Please be aware: Students are responsible for purchasing their own ticket to Prior Park.
For this event you'll be welcomed by our RLA Kamal from 12:45pm at Bath Abbey who you'll be able to recognise from wearing a light blue t-shirt or hoodie with the ResLife logo. If you prefer to arrive earlier, there are benches around the Abbey where you can sit and wait.
The group will leave at 1pm, so please be sure you are ready to leave and have joined the group by this time. Kamalpreet will lead the walking group to Prior Park.
When you arrive at Prior Park, please be aware you will need to pay for entrance. Tickets cost £11.
The route is around 3.5 miles (about 1.5–2 hours), with a mix of gentle paths, open fields, and woodland trails. Expect stunning views, peaceful surroundings, and plenty of time to take it all in.
This will be a relaxed and sociable walk a chance to move, chat, and enjoy the fresh air. There's no scheduled breaks but please let Kamalpreet know at any point if you need to rest and have a break, that's absolutely fine there's plenty of scenic points to stop.
We will finish the walk around 3pm at Bath Spa Railway Station, though this may vary slightly depending on group pace. You're welcome to stay in the city and do some more walking.
The meeting point is Bath Abbey and you will be walking to Prior Park.
The route includes steps/uneven terrain steep hills, a rocky uneven section and steps.
If you would like more information on the route, the national trust website has more details on accessibility and facilities.
