Hello, and welcome to the final part of this examination blog series. Throughout this series, we have focused on exams. For this final blog, I want to shift our attention to something just as important — life beyond examinations.
Exam season often marks a period of transition, and that transition looks different for everyone.
For many postgraduate students, especially those completing a master’s degree, this period may lead to moving back home, whether locally or internationally, or starting a new job. For some, it also means saying goodbye to friends and routines that have become familiar.
For first-year undergraduate students, the end of exams often brings a move into different accommodation. This means new living arrangements, new housemates, and a change in daily life. Friends who once lived nearby may now only be seen on campus, unless plans are made to meet.
For final-year students, this may be the last chapter of university life as you know it. After exams, you move into a completely new phase — whether that is further study, work, or something else entirely. With that comes both excitement and significant change.
For second- and third-year students, or those returning from placement, this period marks a transition into a crucial stage of your academic journey. After exams, preparation begins for what comes next.
For doctoral students in accommodation, there may also be a move out of university housing into private accommodation, bringing a new experience of living independently and adjusting to a different routine.
The key message is this: after exams comes change.
Whether it is moving out, starting a new chapter, or adjusting to a different stage of university life, this period is more than just the end of exams, it is the beginning of something new. So, as you prepare for your exams, remember to also make time for the present. Spend time with friends, enjoy your accommodation spaces, and create small moments that you will remember. Go for coffee, sit in the common room, have conversations, and take it all in. Because once exams are over, a new cycle begins.
Thank you for following this blog series, and we look forward to seeing you in the next one.
