How to deal with hard-to-recycle items sustainably

Easily earn money back from hard-to-recycle products

Some beauty, healthcare and wellness products can be difficult to recycle at home, usually because:

  • The containers are too small
  • They are made of composite materials
  • They are made of non-recyclable materials

You can bring a lot of these products to the large Boots store in Southgate, in the centre of Bath.

The Recycle at Boots reward scheme allows you to recycle hard-to-dispose packaging, such as:

  • empty skincare bottles
  • toothpaste tubes
  • travel minis
  • mascara wands

Why should you get involved?

  • It’s eco-friendly: Recycling through this scheme reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfill.
  • Earn Boots Advantage Card points: For every five empty products you recycle, you’ll earn 500 Boots Advantage Card points (worth £5). That’s a solid discount on your next shop, perfect for saving on essentials like toiletries or makeup.
  • Convenience: With recycling bins available at many Boots stores across the UK, it’s easy to drop off your items while you’re out and about.
  • Support sustainability: Boots has partnered with innovative recycling companies to ensure the items are responsibly processed and reused. By participating, you’re supporting their sustainability goals and encouraging more retailers to follow suit.

How does it work?

  1. Check accepted items: Boots accepts a wide range of items, including empty skincare tubes, deodorant sticks, and toothpaste tubes. Make sure your empties are clean and dry before dropping them off.
  2. Recycle in store: Head to your nearest participating Boots store and find the Recycle at Boots collection bin (as shown in the video).
  3. Get rewarded: Scan your items using the Boots Scan2Recycle App, and your Advantage Card points will be added automatically.

Start recycling today and earn your rewards! Learn more about the scheme and find participating stores on the Recycle at Boots webpage. 🌍♻️
