Celebrating trans and non-binary people

Happy Transgender Day of Visibility!

Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV) is all about celebrating trans and nonbinary people, and raising awareness on the barriers to trans inclusion. It is an internationally recognised day which takes place on 31 March every year - provides an opportunity to celebrate trans joy and strength in our understanding of trans and non-binary experiences.

This page provides a starting point for various ways of celebrating or marking TDOV, including events, activities, and resources for trans people and our allies.

Celebrate and practice trans joy

Celebrate Trans Day of Visibility with us at our T(ea) Party on 31 March. There will be hot drinks and sweet treats available, and a welcoming and supportive environment to chat with other trans and non-binary students.

Learn about diverse trans and non-binary experiences

We all have something to learn about the diverse experiences of trans people, in order to provide inclusive community spaces for all trans people and/or to be better trans allies. Engaging with media centring or created by trans people is a great way to learn more.

Build knowledge on being trans inclusive

Be a visible trans ally

Use TDOV as a opportunity to show your support for trans and non-binary people by:

  • Picking up/wearing a pronoun badge from 4W to help normalise pronouns not being assumed.
  • Use the University Progress Pride Lanyard for your library card.
  • Use gender-neutral, inclusive language.
