Knots of luck for the New Year

Celebrate Chinese New Year with a hands on workshop where you’ll learn how to tie a simple Chinese decorative knot, a beautiful traditional craft symbolising good luck, unity, and prosperity.

Using vibrant red cord, you’ll be guided through the steps to create your own knot, perfect to use as a keyring, bag charm, or festive ornament. No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get creative!

Come along for a relaxed and friendly session, discover the meaning behind traditional knots, and take home a handmade decoration to welcome good fortune for the new year.

ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in the Clevelands lounge. You’ll be able to recognise them wearing a light blue t-shirt or hoodie with the ResLife logo on.

The Clevelands lounge is in the courtyard. The lounge is accessible via card access and seating in the lounge. There are no toilets available in the lounge.

Join us at this event where you can celebrate and prepare for Chinese New Year with a traditional activity.

This workshop will be led by ResLife Ambassadors and is set up to be relaxing and welcoming. You will be tying simple Chinese knots to make either a keychain, bag charm or a festive ornament. All materials will be provided, and support will be available throughout, whether you’d like step-by-step guidance or prefer to experiment with your own ideas.

You’re welcome to bring friends or come on your own. You can chat while you craft, work quietly, or simply enjoy learning something new in a low-pressure environment. By the end of the session, you can take your creation home with you.
