Create window decorations for CNY
Create luck with every cut
Join us for a festive and hands on workshop to celebrate Chinese New Year through the beautiful art of traditional Chinese papercutting . This centuries old craft is used to decorate windows, bring good luck, and welcome prosperity for the year ahead and now you’ll get to make your own!
During this relaxed session, you’ll learn simple cutting techniques, explore the meanings behind classic symbols, and create bright red window decorations to take home or display in your room. No experience needed, just enthusiasm and a bit of curiosity.
It’s a fun and creative way to celebrate Chinese New Year, meet others, and add a touch of good fortune to your space.
ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in the Eveleigh Waterside Living Lounge. You’ll be able to recognise them wearing a light blue t-shirt or hoodie with the ResLife logo on.
The Eveleigh Waterside lounge is located on the basement floor. The lounge is accessible via card access and seating in the lounge. There is a lift that attendees can use. There are accessible toilets available on the ground floor.
Join us at this event where you can celebrate and prepare for Chinese New Year with a traditional activity.
This workshop will be led by ResLife Ambassadors and is set up to be relaxing and welcoming. You will be using paper cutting to make window decorations. All materials will be provided, and support will be available throughout, whether you’d like step-by-step guidance or prefer to experiment with your own ideas.
You’re welcome to bring friends or come on your own. You can chat while you craft, work quietly, or simply enjoy learning something new in a low-pressure environment.
By the end of the session, you can take your creation home with you.
