Get ready for Ramadan with RLAs

Come together and celebrate

Join us for a sweet, creative, and heartfelt event in the lead up to Ramadan. Get hands-on as you decorate your very own dates, perfect for gifting to a friend, loved one, or even as a treat for yourself.

Dates often play an important role in Ramadan during Iftar, as it is common for those observing to break their fasts with dates. You could make these for yourself or others to break fast with, or they can make a wonderful treat or gift to enjoy at any time whilst observing Ramadan this month.

You’ll have a choice of toppings to decorate your dates with, sweet and savoury, to make some truly tasty treats. We’ll have recipes for some favourite combinations, including:

- Choc Chip & Peanut Butter dates

- Cream Cheese & Pistachio dates

- Dark Chocolate & Almond dates

Or use your imagination and create your own combinations! We’ll provide gift-wrap boxes so you can take your creations home and share the love with those observing Ramadan. It’s a great way to spread sweetness, creativity, and care during this important month.

Come for the fun, stay for the treats – and leave with something sweet to gift or enjoy!

Polden Commons is located on the ground floor of Polden B Block, next to the Polden Cafe. The room is fully accessible with steps free access and a range of both booth and table seats available. There are accessible toilets located on the same floor.

ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you – you’ll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

This will be a relaxed and welcoming event where you can work at your own pace to create decorated dates in celebration of Ramadan.

RLAs will welcome you and explain the layout of the event and how you can get involved. We’ll provide everything you need to decorate your dates, including kitchen equipment as well as topping options made up of different nuts, melted chocolate, cream cheese, chocolate chips, honey and salt.

You can drop in at any point during the event and make as many or as few dates as you would like, or simply observe and enjoy the atmosphere if you prefer. At the end of the event, you'll be able to take home your creations to gift, share, or enjoy.
