Learn a new craft, bead by bead

Looking for a new hobby that's colourful, calming and completely absorbing? Join us at Aquila Court and learn the art of beaded tapestries.

Bead by bead, you'll build up your own design, choosing your colours and watching your pattern slowly come to life. It's the kind of craft that lets you switch off and focus on one small step at a time, making it a lovely way to unwind at the end of the week.

Whether you're a seasoned crafter or you've never threaded a bead before, our ResLife Ambassadors will show you the basics and help you get started. There'll be example designs to inspire you, or you can create something entirely your own.

At the end of the evening, you'll take home a handmade piece to keep, gift or show off.

Thread, create, repeat.

ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in the Aquila Court Social Space, through the main entrance and next to reception. There is an accessible toilet on the same floor and a range of seating, including chairs and sofas.

ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you. You'll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

There will be some unstructured time at the start while people arrive. If you're coming on your own, our RLAs will happily introduce you to others or find you a seat.

RLAs will show you how it works, then you can work on your design at your own pace. All materials will be provided, and there will be example designs if you need some inspiration. This is a calm, focused session.

You can chat while you work or keep to yourself, whatever feels most comfortable. You're welcome to leave and re-join at any point.
