Revision can wait — penguins can’t

With exams just around the corner, everything can start to feel a bit too serious. So, in honour of World Penguin Day, we’re doing the exact opposite.

Join us for a deliberately silly, low-pressure session where you can make your own penguin fridge magnet; whether it’s cute, wonky, or completely unhinged is entirely up to you.

No skills needed, no expectations, just a chance to switch off and have a laugh.

It’s the perfect excuse to take a break from revision, do something a bit ridiculous, and leave with a penguin that may or may not deserve a place on your fridge.

This event will be held in Aquila Court social space, through the main entrance and next to the reception. There is an accessible toilet on the same floor and range of seating available, including both seats and sofas.

ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you. You’ll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

This is a relaxed, informal session where you can drop in and take part at your own pace. You’re free to arrive and leave whenever you like, and there’s no pressure to stay for the full session or create anything “perfect.”

The activity is simple and hands-on, with a mix of materials and textures to work with. It may involve a bit of mess (we’ll mainly be working with air-dry clay)), but everything you need will be provided. The space will have a moderate level of background noise, similar to a small group workshop, with a quieter area available if you need a break.

Guidance from ResLife Ambassadors will be there if you want it, but you’re just as welcome to do your own thing. The focus is on having a laugh and taking a proper break from revision.
