Nourish: A hidden gem at the heart of campus

discover the newest food spot on campus

Nourish is a wonderful spot in the centre of campus (located opposite the Library) that sells hot and cold food, with smoothies, sweet treats and hot drinks.

The décor creates an artisanal atmosphere, I am a big fan of the wood and plants combination, which I think makes it a perfect place to relax between your lectures with a matcha (a new addition!).

I was intrigued by the smoothie selection – smoothies are never really my first choice, but I wanted to try something that was a bit out of my comfort zone. In this context, that meant getting the spinach smoothie. I know what you’re thinking but just trust me: it’s a 10/10. I was pleasantly surprised (mildly relieved) by the drink – it was sweet, tangy and refreshing. I couldn’t taste the spinach or broccoli, only really the apple, pineapple and crisp cucumber. Some might say the mouthfeel is controversial, and while I wouldn’t disagree, I also think if you’re ordering a giant green smoothie, you should be prepared for an interesting texture. If you’re looking for a sweet and satisfying way to eat some greens, I highly recommend!

Moving onto food! I got the miso aubergine poke bowl, which had sticky rice, fresh vegetables and (obviously) miso aubergine chunks. These were sweet and savoury, and went nicely with the rice. I’m not normally a fan of aubergine, but the texture and taste worked really well. The veggies were a great palette cleanser, though I think the dish would benefit from some sauce for a kick of extra flavour.

For dessert, we had a s’mores brownie slice, which was rich and creamy, and the toasted marshmallow on top gave it a cosy warmth (exactly what you want from a sweet treat in my opinion). I would definitely get this again as a little boost during a long day of lectures.

I think Nourish is one of the nicest places on campus to get food. It has a cute atmosphere, it’s conveniently located, and you can use your Exchange Cup or BathGo for a cheeky discount. If you haven’t been there already, make sure to visit soon!
