A guide to the Dott e-Bikes and scooters

Getting around the city safely and efficiently

Whether you're commuting up to campus or exploring the city centre, getting around Bath just got a whole lot easier. Dott has replaced the previous TIER scheme, providing a sustainable, flexible and affordable way to travel around the city.

Every scooter and e-bike is custom-built with handy features such as a lock and a phone holder with a built-in wireless charger to keep your battery full when riding.

Getting Started

To start riding, download the Dott app for iOS or Android. Before you unlock your first ride, make sure you take advantage of our Dott Scholars Scheme, which gives students and staff an automatic 35% discount on all pay-as-you-go rides. If you plan on using them daily, you can also explore their flexible day, week, or month passes directly in the app to save even more money!

When riding e-scooters, remember that you must carry a valid full or provisional driving licence with you.

Safety First!

Your safety and the safety of pedestrians around Bath are the top priority. To ensure a smooth journey, keep these essential rules in mind:

Wear a helmet: Protect your head and stay visible on the road.

Stay off pavements: It's illegal to ride e-scooters or e-bikes on pavements, so make sure you always stick to the roads and designated cycle lanes.

No double riding: Dott vehicles are for one person only. Riding with a friend on the same scooter or bike is highly dangerous and will result in a permanent ban from the app.

Ditch the distractions: Never wear headphones or look at your phone while moving. Use the built-in phone holder if you need to view your route.

Ride sober: It's just like driving a car. Riding under the influence of alcohol or drugs carries severe legal consequences.

Watch the zones: The app features built-in low-speed and no-go areas across the city. Your scooter or bike will slow down automatically or stop if you enter these zones, so it's a good idea to plan your route ahead of time.

Park like a pro

You can't leave your bike or scooter anywhere when you finish your journey. To end your route, you must locate an official designated parking bay using the map inside the Dott app, park it inside, and secure the lock.

Make sure you don't block pavements, ramps, or building entrances. Leaving it outside an official bay or parking poorly can result in parking fines, so double-check your spot!
