Patterns full of colour

Celebrate Diwali in colour

Bring a burst of colour to your week with an evening of rangoli making at John Wood, as we get ready to celebrate Diwali.

Rangoli are vibrant, decorative patterns traditionally created on floors and doorsteps during Diwali and other festivals, to welcome guests and bring good luck into the home. From intricate flowers and geometric shapes to swirling symmetrical designs, every rangoli is unique.

Join our ResLife Ambassadors to learn a little about this beautiful tradition and create your own rangoli design. Whether you celebrate Diwali or are discovering it for the first time, everyone is welcome to join in and share the festive spirit.

No experience needed, and all materials are provided. Just bring yourself and a love of colour.

Create, colour, celebrate.

ResLife Ambassadors will meet you in the John Wood Social Space. The space is fully accessible with automatic doors and accessible toilets on the ground floor. There is plenty of seating available.

ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you. You'll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

There will be some unstructured time at the start while people arrive. If you're coming on your own, our RLAs will happily introduce you to others or find you a seat.

RLAs will show you how to get started and share some traditional designs for inspiration, or you can create a pattern of your own.

All materials will be provided. Some materials can get a little messy, so wear something you don't mind getting marked. Y

You can chat while you work or keep to yourself, whatever feels most comfortable. You're welcome to leave and re-join at any point.

If you need a quieter spot or a break, just let one of our RLAs know and they'll be happy to help.

If you would like to attend more events like this one, make sure to check the ResLife Events page regularly for our latest updates.

Please note:

We have photographers and film-makers at some of our events to capture footage to share online and for use in future promotional materials. If you don't want to be featured, please inform a member of the ResLife Team.
