On the second day of Christmas ResLife gave to me...….gingerbread decorating

Put your deadlines on pause and step into the sweetest study break of the season—our Gingerbread Decorating Night is the perfect excuse to get festive, get creative, and have a laugh with other students. We’ll provide everything you need: gingerbread shapes, icing, sprinkles, sweets, and plenty of space to build your dream cookie creation, whether that’s a delicate design or a chaotic masterpiece piled high with sugar.

The atmosphere will be warm, cosy, and full of that classic gingerbread spice smell that instantly feels like winter. You can chat, decorate, compare techniques, and maybe even engage in some friendly competition over whose gingerbread deserves a spot in a bakery window. No baking skills required—just bring your imagination and a willingness to get a little messy.

Come along, unwind, and head home with your own edible work of art (if you don’t eat it first). It’s a relaxed, cheerful evening that’s all about creativity, company, and festive fun.

Green Park Living Lounge is located on the ground floor of the building, just right of the main entrance and across from the reception. The lounge is accessible with an automatic door and a sloped entrance for wheelchair users. There are a range of seats in the lounge including table seats, sofas, and high seats. There is lots of natural light from the multiple windows along the length of the lounge.

ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you – you’ll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a warm, relaxed space with tables set up for decorating.

You’ll be given your own gingerbread pieces along with icing, sprinkles, sweets and plenty of decorating supplies, so there’s no need to bring anything.

The atmosphere is calm and cosy, and you can decorate at your own pace—there’s no pressure to follow a design or finish quickly. Student Ambassadors will be around if you’d like help or a bit of company, but you’re also free to sit quietly and focus if that feels more comfortable.

You can take breaks whenever you need, chat with others or simply enjoy the creative process, and at the end you’re welcome to take your decorated gingerbread home with you.
