Celebrate the festival of lights

Join us for the festival of lights

Diwali, the festival of lights, is one of the most joyful celebrations of the year, and we'd love you to celebrate it with us. Join our ResLife Ambassadors at Green Park House for an evening of colour, light and community.

Celebrated by millions of people around the world, Diwali marks the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. Throughout the evening, you'll get hands-on with traditional activities including lantern making, creating your own rangoli designs and lighting sparklers to brighten the night sky. Enjoy traditional snacks, festive decorations and a vibrant atmosphere, and feel free to come in traditional dress!

Whether you celebrate Diwali every year, you're missing celebrating with family back home, or you're curious to experience it for the first time, everyone is welcome. It's a chance to share traditions, learn something new and enjoy a warm, festive evening with students from across our accommodation.

Come along with your flatmates or on your own, and help us light up Green Park House.

Happy Diwali from ResLife

Green Park Living Lounge is on the ground floor of the building, just right of the main entrance and across from reception. The lounge is accessible with an automatic door and a sloped entrance for wheelchair users. There is a range of seating, including table seats, sofas and high seats.

ResLife Ambassadors will be there to welcome you. You'll be able to recognise them in their light blue RLA hoodies and t-shirts with the ResLife logo on.

You're welcome to arrive at any time during the event and stay for as long as you like.

There will be some unstructured time while people arrive. If you're coming on your own, our RLAs will happily introduce you to others or find you a seat.

During the evening, you can make lanterns, create rangoli designs, light sparklers and enjoy traditional snacks. Join in with as much or as little as you like. You're welcome to wear traditional dress.

There is no structured break, but you're welcome to leave and re-join at any point.

The room may get busy and lively at times. If you need a quieter spot or a break, just let one of our RLAs know and they'll be happy to help.

Snacks and cold drinks will be provided, and all allergens will be clearly labelled. If you have any dietary requirements, let a member of the team know on arrival. Feel free to bring your own food and drink too.
